Free lighting design seminar in Miami from Jonathan Smeeton

Renowned designer Jonathan Smeeton will be hosting a free lighting design seminar in Miami on October 15. The event will last all day, according to Live Design, including a demo lightshow and free lunch, and is titled "Lighting Design and its Application for the Stage." Interested designers and aspiring lighting students can register here.

Smeeton gained fame working lights for a wide variety of performing artists from Marilyn Manson to The Rolling Stones, and will be offering an extensive look at his lengthy history and expertise lighting stages across the globe. A thorough examination of modern lighting trends vs. traditional strategies and the processes involved in lighting and stage design in realistic terms will be the primary focus on the seminar.

Smeeton has also gone by the name "Liquid Len" during his time creating lightshows for Hawkwind in the 1970s, and was name-checked in the Geneisis track "The Battle of Epping Forest" as a thank you for the work he also provided for them. Most recently, Smeeton provided expert lighting design for Taylor Swift and Diana Ross.

In addition to lighting and stage design work for musical acts, Smeeton has an illustrious history designing for the theater, including shows such as Dial M for Murder, Godspell and The Drowsy Chaperone. 

The seminar is part of the Elation Educational Experience (E3) Program, but is open to designers from all businesses, schools and companies.
