Gobos illuminate Boston music festival

Gobo lights were on the scene to bring some color and flare to Boston City Hall, the backdrops for the city's 2014 Boston Calling Music Festival. The lighting accentuated the building's impressive architecture, using patterns and varying colors to create a blend of effects on the building's exterior.

"I could see from several angles that moving lights were the way to go with this one," Preston Hoffman, the lighting designer in charge of the project, told AVNetwork. "Patterns were vital to the project. The gobo selection was nice and ideal for both projected and aerial effects."

Hoffman used motion effects, color wheels and overlapping projectors to create a range of looks for the three-day long event. He took advantage of the building's cantilevered upper stories and lightly colored appearance to utilize a wider range of looks and gobo image combinations.

Lighting plays a crucial role in any event, be it musical, cultural or theatrical. Taking advantage of the surrounding landscape through the use of light projectors can be a great way to enhance these gatherings without setting up additional structures and increasing spending. Using the right gobo projectors and designs can help make any performance or event more magical.

One of the best ways to optimize your use of lighting is to create custom gobo designs for it. GoboSource can help you make eye-popping gobos using color or unique images. Whether you're looking to create a unique blend of color and patterns or utilize motion effects, such as those provided by the ECO Spot LED40-WE LED Water Effect Projector, you can use lighting to amplify the mood and set new standards in entertainment for crowds of all sizes and ages.
