Gobos can help optimize mood in music television shows

While we often discuss the merits of gobos in weddings, businesses trade shows and live events, the use of them for television, especially recorded musical performances, cannot be overstated. A prime example of this is the newest music competition show on Telemundo, "Buscando Mi Ritmo." The six-episode show requires dramatic lighting changes for each of the acts that will performs in a single episode, which required high-end gobo lights to ease transitions and cut time for each lighting change.

"Being that we were working with a small stage, the client wanted to achieve radically different lighting moods for each performance," Gaston Fazio, head of lighting design for the show, told Live Design.

Fazio also selected to use LED projectors for power savings and improved lifespan of the bulbs.

The show pairs celebrities with up-and-coming bands, and requires major lighting changes between acts to optimize the performance based on the different groups' genres and styles. The use of gobos allows for quick and easy changes to be made, while simplifying the movement and automation of lighting design.

Any television show can utilize gobos for a variety of purposes, from setting mood and tone to making a musical performance that much more impressive. It is important to select the right projectors for a variety of uses and to stock a broad selection of stock and custom gobo designs to meet any demand.
