What information is needed to purchase a custom gobo?

Purchasing a custom gobo from Gobosource is a terrific way to brighten up live events of any kind. Ordering a gobo isn't a difficult process, but in order to provide you with the best product possible, we need some information about the design you want, as well as the situation in which the gobo will be used.

Here are a few things that you should determine so that we can help you more effectively:

  • Details of the setting where you will be using your gobo: This includes basic info, such as the distance you'll need the gobo to project, the desired size of the projection and, if applicable, the angle it will be pointing.
  • The color and material of the projection surface: The surface color is especially important if you plan projecting color artwork.
  • You'll also want to let us know about the ambient lighting situation: Will you be using the gobo in a dark room or will it be well-lit? If you'll be using it in a mobile setting, this will also be helpful to know.
  • Icon or logo design: We'll need to work with you on creating a design that will function as a gobo projection. This may mean making alterations to your original idea. Typically, we'll have you send the design as a vector file, such as an Illustrator .AI., .PDF, or  .EPS file, which allows us to easily modify and scale it to the right dimensions digitally.
